The Art of Gianluca Costantini Between Faith, Suffering, and Human Rights
October 13 – 26, 2025
Opening hours: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM / 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Church of Santa Maria in Via, Largo Chigi – Rome

From October 13 to 26, 2025, the Church of Santa Maria in Via will host “Christ Died in Gaza”, an exhibition dedicated to the work of visual artist and activist Gianluca Costantini. Through his essential and powerful drawing style, the exhibition tells the story of the tragedy and resistance of the Palestinian people.
The exhibition presents a selection of works devoted to the Palestinian question, where drawing becomes a tool of denunciation, memory, and solidarity. Costantini’s illustrations give face and voice to activists, journalists, children, and Palestinian civilians — figures often ignored by mainstream narratives. His lines, never neutral, become political statements and gestures of empathy, capable of mobilizing collective awareness also through online circulation.

Among the most significant series on display is “Christ Died in Gaza”, in which the artist draws a parallel between the Passion of Christ and the daily suffering of the Palestinian people. The images, powerful and provocative, evoke the sacred dimension of collective pain and denounce the injustices endured by civilians in the occupied territories.
Costantini’s art does not stop at representing suffering; it becomes an act of cultural and civil resistance. In a time when images risk being reduced to fleeting consumption, his portraits stand as icons of memory and ethical commitment, bearing witness to a nonviolent struggle that transcends political and religious boundaries.
