Justice for Samuel Wazizi

Samuel Wazizi, Southern Cameroonian Journalist dies of torture in Police Custody

Samuel Abuwe popularly known as Samuel Wazizi, host of the pidgin News program on CMTV Buea. Arrested in Buea on the 2nd of August 2019 and has never been seen in court during his trials. Relaible information holds that, after arrests, he was dragged to the Muea police station where he was brutally tortured by a contingent of police officers and then later taken to the Buea central police staion where the torture continued for several days before being kidnapped to an unknown destination by the elements of the 21st motorised infantry battalion Buea where he finally died from injuries sustained during police torture.

The committee to protect journalists, CPJ has called on the Cameroon government to show proof of life or make a clear statement on Samuel Wazizi’s death. For almost 4 years, thousands of southern Cameroonians including a several Journalists have faced arbitrary arrests, torture and detention and in some cases death in the hands of French Cameroun armed forces as the crises in the southern Cameroons continues.

We call on the International Community who still maintains awkward silence to take major steps towards stopping the French Cameroon Dictator regime in Yaounde from exterminating all Southern Cameroonians because of their identity. Nalowa Bih
