Freedom for Dele Farotimi

Dele Farotimi is a Nigerian lawyer, author, and activist, born on April 27, 1968, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Known for his commitment to social justice and institutional reform, Farotimi’s activism and writings focus on the need for systemic change in Nigeria. He has been a strong critic of the country’s political structures and has called for a complete overhaul of its constitution and governance system.

Farotimi attended Lagos State University, where he earned his law degree and served as President of the Student Association from 1994 to 1995. This early involvement in student leadership sparked his passion for advocating social change. He went on to practice law, founding his own firm, DF Legal, in 2002. His firm has become known for handling high-profile cases and providing a range of legal services.

In addition to his legal career, Farotimi is an influential writer. His books, Don’t Die in War (2019) and The Mandate of the Nigerian Revolution (2021), tackle Nigeria’s political challenges, highlighting the corruption within the system and advocating for national reform. His activism also extended into politics when he became the official spokesman for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign in 2022, supporting the Labour Party in the 2023 elections.

Despite his public life, Farotimi values his family, living in the United States with his wife, Funmi Falotimi, and their three children to ensure their safety and better opportunities. He remains committed to creating a Nigeria free from oppression and corruption.
