Alberto Trentini is a 45-year-old Italian aid worker from Lido di Venezia, Italy, who was in Venezuela on a humanitarian mission with the NGO Humanity & Inclusion.
On November 15, 2024, while traveling from Caracas to Guasdalito, he was arrested at a checkpoint by Venezuelan authorities. Since then, no official information has been provided regarding the reasons for his arrest, nor have any formal charges been filed against him.
Trentini suffers from asthma and hypertension, and his family is deeply concerned about his lack of access to essential medication while in detention.
Despite diplomatic efforts—including the summoning of the Venezuelan head of mission in Rome by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani—authorities have not yet granted consular access or provided details on Trentini’s condition.
The Italian government is actively working to ensure the protection of his rights and to secure his release.
