Bernie Sanders Brings “Fighting Oligarchy Tour” to New York: Town Hall with Zohran Mamdani
A grassroots rally in Brooklyn to challenge corporate power and support progressive leadership in New York City
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will be in Brooklyn this weekend for a town hall with mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, as part of his Fighting Oligarchy Tour. The event will take place at Brooklyn College on Saturday evening and provides an opportunity to discuss democracy, economic inequality, and the role of the working class in local politics.
Sanders’ tour comes shortly after his stops in New Hampshire and Maine, where he supported working-class candidates such as Troy Jackson, running for Governor of Maine, and Graham Platner, who recently announced his bid for the U.S. Senate against Susan Collins.
“At a time of massive and growing income and wealth inequality, we are building a strong grassroots movement to take on the billionaire class and corporate greed,” Sanders said. “The oligarchs are prepared to undermine democracy and spend tens of millions of dollars to buy elections. But candidates who stand boldly with the working class can — and will — beat them. When we stand together we can defeat authoritarianism and create an economy that works for all our people, not just the privileged few.”
The Brooklyn event represents a crucial moment for Mamdani, who, after winning the Democratic primary, faces powerful economic and political interests determined to block him. Sanders’ presence aims to bring visibility to his campaign and mobilize activists and citizens in support of meaningful political change.
The event promises to be a direct forum for discussion between citizens, activists, and leaders of the progressive movement, with the goal of strengthening the fight against oligarchic influence in public life.
