A drawing for the Batti il tuo tempo calendar by Staffetta Sanitaria Rojava, honoring a Kurdish feminist voice and the power of art to keep stories of freedom alive

I’m very happy to take part in the “Batti il tuo tempo” calendar project by Staffetta Sanitaria Rojava with a drawing portraying Nagihan Akarsel, a Kurdish activist, journalist, and feminist whose life and commitment to freedom continue to resonate in the memory of so many.
Nagihan dedicated her life to the struggle for equality and to the spread of critical thought, becoming a powerful voice for women’s experiences within Kurdish communities. Her story is one of resistance and courage that reaches far beyond geographical borders.
Batti il tuo tempo is an initiative that brings together art, memory, and solidarity, using images and testimonies to tell stories of profound human and social significance. Contributing this illustration is, for me, a way to remember those who gave everything for an ideal, while also offering a window onto stories that deserve to be known and shared.
