Rising War Fears, Endless Armament, and the Fight for Peace

On February 14, 2026, the Aktionsbündnis gegen die NATO-Sicherheitskonferenz is calling for demonstrations and other actions in Munich to raise awareness about the growing militarization of society and to protest against the German government’s rearmament plans.
Every day, war fears are being stoked: drone sightings, sabotage reports, and alarms about alleged threats dominate the news. Many of these claims are based on misinformation rather than verifiable facts. A new Cold War is being conjured up, all to distract from social cuts and the increasing militarization of society. Citizens are told to “tighten their belts,” while rearmament and compulsory military service are presented as unavoidable measures.
The claim that Russia intends to attack NATO is being used to justify a massive arms buildup. The Bundestag recently enshrined unlimited special debt in the Basic Law to make the country “ready for war.” Critics warn that these measures are not necessary for defense but aim to enable aggressive wars, with the risk of a global conflict.
Data highlights the imbalance: the Military Balance 2025 shows that NATO has two to three times the conventional superiority over Russia. Even U.S. intelligence agencies confirm there is no evidence that Russia plans to attack NATO. Claims to the contrary are pure propaganda.
The Aktionsbündnis demands: peace instead of rearmament, dialogue instead of confrontation, and policies that prioritize social justice and security for all. On February 14, 2026, Munich will show how many people reject this arms madness.
