The Square of Hostages

While a new agreement is sought for the release of the Israeli hostages remaining in Gaza, demonstrations continue in the hostages’ square in Tel Aviv. And for those who have returned after the November ceasefire, there is the trauma to process.

Gianluca Costantini is an Italian cartoonist, comic journalist, and activist. He has contributed to numerous publications and is the author of several graphic novels. He is well known for his drawing related to human rights campaigns all over the world. He collaborates with organizations such as the Committee to Protect Journalists, ActionAid, and SOS Méditerranée. In 2019, he received the Art and Human Rights Award from Amnesty International.

Laura Cappon is a journalist, correspondent for XXI secolo and Rai 1, and writes for “Domani”. She has collaborated with Italian outlets such as “il Fatto Quotidiano” and Radio Popolare, as well as international ones like the Radiotelevisione Svizzera Italiana, Al-Jazeera, and The New Arab. She has worked alongside Gad Lerner on Rai 3’s reports. An expert on Egyptian affairs, she lived in Cairo for several years, covering stories from various Middle Eastern countries including Lebanon, Iraq, and Qatar. In 2013, she won the “l’Isola che c’è” award for her coverage of the Egyptian coup, and in 2017, the Mediterranean Peace Correspondent award for a series of articles on Giulio Regeni.
